The luci2 Urban Simulation Model: Central Indiana Implementation is now available. The luci2 model is an enhanced version of the original LUCI, Land Use in Central Indiana Model. The luci2 model forecasts future urban development in a 44-county region of central Indiana for up to 40 years. Anyone can use the model to generate and compare urban development scenarios reflecting different policy choices and assumptions about how development is likely to occur. The aim of luci2 is to inform public discussion and decision making about land use choices for the future of Central Indiana. The enhancements in the luci2 model include separate simulation of residential and employment-related land use, simulation of employment change, new scenario options including an urban growth boundary option, and a new user interface.
